Feast Festival 2010 Writing Competition

Calling all queer writers – Feast’s annual writing competition is now open.

The theme this year is ‘Square’.  Put your thinking caps on, put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard and you have until 12 October to create your masterpiece!

Feast Literary Committee’s Facebook page, or you can have a copy emailed to you from the Literary Coordinator on literature@feast.org.au
        

Prizes
First prize – $300 cash courtesy of Wakefield Press
Second prize - $200 cash donated by gay-ebooks.com.au & lesbian-ebooks.com.au
Third prize – Case of wine donated by Coriole Winery                    

Conditions of entry
Entries must be the original work of the entrant, unpublished, not have won a prize previously, and not be under consideration elsewhere.

Authors may submit as many entries as they wish as long as each entry has a separate entry form attached.

Entry forms may be photocopied.

Entries must be in English, and up to 1500 words of prose or 20 lines of poetry.

Entries must be typed and double-spaced on one side of A4 sized paper, with all pages numbered and securely fastened.

The author’s name must not appear on the entry.

The fully completed entry form must be attached to the entry.

Entries must demonstrate significant queer content and follow the theme ‘SQUARE’.

Manuscripts will not be returned; please keep a copy of your work

Entries must be received at the Feast Festival office in the Lion Arts Centre complex by 4 pm on October 12th 2010.

Entrants must be residents of Australia. Feast staff and members of the Literary Committee and anyone related to or associated with them may not enter this competition.

 

Judging
The judges’ decisions on all matters relating to the competition will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Publication
Feast Festival claims first publication rights to prize-winning entries.

Prize-winning entries may be published on the Feast Festival’s website during the 2010 festival and will be published on gay-ebooks and/or lesbian-ebooks.

Fees
Each single entry (ie each item to be separately judged) attracts an entry fee of $5.00.
